August 30, 2005 Bleed and Feed Blood Drive Kemah, Texas: Thirty-eight
units of blood were collected at the Kemah Fire Department's Summer 2005
"Bleed & Feed" blood drive Tuesday evening, August 30. Along with many
of the firefighters and support staff, many people from the communities of
Kemah, Clear Lake Shores, and Seabrook rolled up their sleeves to give the
gift of life. Kemah Fire Department's
Assistant Chief John O'Neil manned the grill and served up some wonderful
hamburgers to everyone. Special thanks go out to Wal-Mart and
Chilli's of Kemah for donating food items to this drive. "Everyone did great!
I was so proud of everyone!" said UTMB Blood Bank's Community Relations
Representative Andrée Newport. "When I stopped by, everyone seemed to
be having such a good time. The staff could not say enough about how
well they were treated. Thank you!" From the time that the UTMB
Bloodmobile opened its doors at 5:30 until it was time to leave at 9:00, a
steady flow of donors kept the chairs full. All donors received a very
nice book commemorating the heroes of September 11, 2001 -
Standing Together: America Strong and Proud After 9.11. Thank you to everyone who
donated, and to those who tried to donate. Thank you to everyone who
made this event a success! If you weren't able to give
at that time, but would like to now or at some future time, UTMB's Blood
Bank contact information can be found at
http://www.utmb.edu/bb/ Donors may specify "Kemah
Fire Department" if they'd like their donation to be credited for KFD's
benefit. |
