Home Heating Fires

Portable and fixed space heaters and wood stoves cause a disproportionate share of the home heating fire deaths. Space heaters are typically involved in 25% of home heating fires and nearly 75% of the deaths.

The leading cause of space heater fires is combustibles located too close to the heater. Wood stove, fireplace, and chimney fires are typically attributed to creosote build-up. Fixed electric space heaters fires’ leading cause is equipment left unattended.

Be safe and have your heating units checked out annually. There is no price too great to keep you and your loved ones safe.
