Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things
February 2006
Have you ever noticed that sometimes you can live in an area
for years and not know your neighbors? Have you ever wanted to become more
involved in your local community? If so, read on!
Becoming a member of your local volunteer fire department is an excellent way
for you to do just that. As a staff member, first responder, or fire fighter;
you get the opportunity to directly impact the lives of your fellow citizens for
the better. Serving your community fulfills that longing to help others in need
and to make the world a better place.
If you’ve never given serious thought about participating in the volunteer fire
department, maybe this is something that would suit you. The fire department is
made up of ordinary citizens, just like you, who responded to the call of duty.
An appropriate motto is “Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things”.
If you have thought about joining the department but haven’t yet visited
one of our weekly Tuesday night meetings, consider this to be your personal
invitation to come and learn more. Call the fire department’s non-emergency
number (281) 538-5727 or come by the station and talk with Fire Chief Larry
Suniga. He will be glad to answer any questions you may have, show you around
the firehouse, and to help you determine how you can best serve alongside your
fellow citizens in the Kemah Fire Department.
