Smoking Policy

Smoking is not permitted in any Kemah Fire Department building or apparatus whether leased, owned, or occupied.

Smoking is not permitted at any public function that KFD is participating. Any member that desires to smoke must go to a location as to eliminate any smoke from traveling to an area where non-smokers are present. Examples of these areas may be parking lots or streets away from the public event. Smoking in the presence of minors is strictly prohibited.

Smoking is not permitted at emergency scenes or in rehab. Any member that desires to smoke must go to a location as to eliminate any smoke from traveling to an area where non-smokers are present. Examples of these areas may be parking lots or streets away from the incident. Members must keep accountable to their company officer or IC. Members must be aware that they are far enough away from the incident as to not pose a hazard to themselves or others by presenting an open flame. Smoking at motor vehicle accidents or hazardous material incidents is prohibited.

It is encouraged that members of the Kemah Fire Department put professionalism first. Remember that we are role models to many and we must present ourselves as such.
