WHEN TO CALL 9-1-1
Emergencies don't happen very
often. But when they do, you want to get help fast. No one wants to spend time
looking up the phone number. That's why 9-1-1 was created - to make it
easy.
WHEN SHOULD I CALL 9-1-1?
9-1-1 is for emergencies, potential emergencies, or when an emergency is
imminent.
• Ask yourself, "What is the level of urgency?"
• Is there a danger to life or property?
• Are you or someone else the victim of a crime?
• Do you have a police emergency?
• Do you or someone else have a medical emergency?
• Do you need the fire department?
WHAT IF I NEED HELP BUT IT'S NOT AN EMERGENCY?
TEXAS INFORMATION & REFERRAL NETWORK: 2-1-1 is the number to call when
you don't know who to call. 2-1-1 is the gateway for an extensive network
of health and human service resources.
